"Willie and Lucille Peevyhouse are long time residents of Haskell County having both ben born and raised there.  They live on their farm located on the outskirts of the Fish Creek Community between Stigler and Kinta where they raised three children: Lonnie Dale, Pamela Diane and Jeffrey Allen.

 

"Willie Frankie was born 14 March 1927 to Frances "Frank" Andrew Peevyhouse and Lillie Alice (Reid) Peevyhouse in the community of Antioch.   Willie remembers times being very hard when he was growing up, very hard for everyone, but he also remembers the good times he had growing up in the Rocky Ridge Community and the good neighbors the Peevyhouse kids knew, especially Mr. and Mrs. Clarence (Bessie) McKinney. "Freda Lucille was born 19 September 1929 to Jasper Luther Krumsiek and Lucy Jane (Honeycutt) Krumsiek in the community of Martin Box which is now known as the Lafayette Community.  Lucille remembers going to town in the winter, about once a week when she was a little girl and using a rock or a piece of iron, heated and wrapped in a cotton sack to keep their feet warm during the trip.

 

"After serving in the U. S. ARmed Forces stationed in Camp Walters, Texas; with the 148 Infantry int he South Pacific; and St. Louis, Obisbo, California; Willie hitchhiked his way back to Haskell County where he married Freda Lucille Krumsiek on October 30, 1947....

 

"Willie helped in the construction of Lake John Wells in 1956, Rural Electric Cooperative in 1959-60 and the Haskell County Hospital in 1960-61.  He went to work at the Haskell County Hospital in maintenance after completion of the construction in 1962.  In the early part of their marriage Willie worked for the McAlester Ammunition Depot, he returned to work there and retired with 20 years service in 1975.  Lucille worked at the Stigler Canning Company during the early part of their marriage, but quit and maintained the ranch when Willie returned to work in McAlester.  Willie is active in the Elliott-Warren VFW Post 4446 and served as Post Commander in 1985-86.

 

"Willie and Lucille celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year, 1987.  Working together has netted them a good life with a fine family.  Their three children and six of their seven grandchildren all live in Haskell County...."
