Society, excerpt from "CHARLES H. "CHUCK" AND PATSY (HAMLIN) ROYE" Biography, an article by Pat Roye,
pg.497:
"Chuck and I were both raised in Haskell County though at opposite ends.
"Chuck was born December 13, 1950 and was raised at Rose Hill, on the land that his great grandfather bought in 1914
or 1915. Chuck's parents are Charles D. Roye and Ruth Fraser Roye. He has three sisters: Katina, Marlita, and Kathy. An
older siter, Sharon died in infancy. He went to school at Rose Hill for one year then Kinta until the eighth grade. The
family moved to Stigler in 1967 and Chuck graduated from Stigler High school in 1969. We got married in November, 1969 and
Chuck was drafted into the Army in July, 1970. He spent nearly a year in Vietnam before being discharged in 1972. Later
in 1972, we bought the ranch where Chuck had been raised and moved back to Rose Hill. Except for working at Garland Coal
Co., Chuck has ranched since then.
"My parents are Gilbert E. Hamlin and Oleta Vickers Hamlin. My dad died of cancer in 1975 but a lot of people especially
around Stigler and Tamaha remember him as "Gib". I was born August 17, 1951 at Fish Creek but we lived around Tamaha
most of my life. Daddy had cattle and farmed a lot and Mother always had a big garden and chickens. By today's standards
we were poor but I don't think any of us kids realized it until we were nearly grown. Mother made all of the clothes for
my sisters and me, and most of Daddy's and my brothers. I have two sisters, Elaine and Sandra, and two brothers, Larry and
Barry. Since February 17, 1981, I have owned and managed a convenience store in Stigler.
"Chuck and I have four children: David William, born December 12, 1972; Chad Emery, born December 22, 1973; Kimarie
Jeanette, born November 17, 1978; and Jessica Ann, born February 17, 1981."
