Dona Nance Callie "Grandma Nance", 98, died in her home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, March 23, 2006 in Boyes Hot Springs, CA.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Mr. Tamalpais Cemetery, 2500 Fifth Ave. West, San Rafael, CA 415-459-2500.

She was born July 13, 1907 in Stigler, Oklahoma to Mary Jane and Newton Maddox. Callie married Floyd in 1928 and they settled in Stigler, where they started their family and worked their cotton and corn farm. In 1946 Callie, Floyd, and their four boys moved to Marin County and eventually settled in the town of Boys Hot Springs, CA where she resided for 37 years. Callie was a devoted wife and mother, adored children, and was the best Southern cook you could ever meet. She loved to take care of others and always made people feel welcome in her home. She had a wonderful sense of humor that stayed with her until the end. Callie will be greatly missed. Callie is survived and loved by twenty grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Floyd A. Nance, and her four sons Melvin, Delmer, Don, and Doyle.
